Any time you add a domain as hosted in some account, you normally set a pair of Name Servers to direct it to that particular company. On their end, 3 records are set up automatically right after the domain name is added - one A record and two MX records. The former is a numeric address, or IP address, which “tells” the domain name where its website is, while the other two are alphanumeric and they reveal the server that manages the e-mails for that particular Internet domain. The website and the email hosting are usually thought to be one thing, when they are in reality two different services. Having separate records for them will allow you to have them with different companies if you want. For example, some new service provider could have superb uptime for your website, but you might not want to switch your e-mail messages from your current host and by employing an A record to point the domain name to the first and MX records to have the emails with the second, you could get the best of both companies. These records are checked whenever you want to open a site or send an e-mail - either way, the company whose name servers are used for the domain address will be contacted to retrieve the A and MX records and if you have set records different from their own, the right web/mail server will then be contacted and you'll see the needed site or your email will be delivered.

Custom MX and A Records in Cloud Web Hosting

If you have a Linux cloud web hosting through us, you will be able to see, create and modify any A or MX record for your Internet addresses. So long as a given domain name has our Name Servers, you are going to be able to to modify particular records using our Hepsia hosting CP and have your website or e-mails pointed to any other company if you'd like to use only one of our services. Our leading-edge tool will even allow you to have a domain name hosted here and a subdomain below it to be hosted someplace else by changing only its A record - this will not affect the main domain name at all. If you decide to use the email services of a different provider and they want you to create more than two MX records, you can easily do this with simply a couple of clicks through the DNS Records section of your CP. Also you can set different latency for every single MX record i.e. which one is going to have priority.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The Hepsia hosting CP, included with our Linux semi-dedicated hosting, allows you to view the A and MX records for every one of the domain addresses or subdomains in your account and if necessary, to edit any of them or create new ones. Handling these records is quite easy since all domains/subdomains will be listed alphabetically, so updating a record is as simple as entering it in a box and saving the change. Creating a new one takes just a couple of more clicks and in case you experience any difficulties, you can check out our instructional videos on how to set up A and MX records. Our system is intuitive enough to be used by people with no previous experience, yet advanced enough to provide you with complete control of all records and to enable you to have different A records even for domain.com and www.domain.com. If you're switching your emails to a different service provider and they ask you to create more than two different MX records, you may choose the priority of each one.
